CFBC COVID-19 Response
Message from Dr. Jacqueline Austin, CFBC President
As we face this unprecedented crisis, we are reminded of the power of humanity and remain grateful for your continued commitment and contributions to CFBC. The evolving situation with COVID-19 is not just changing by the day or hour but seemingly every moment. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our paramount concern and we are working assiduously to ensure that you are aware of the necessary precautions and protocols needed to protect you in the midst of this global pandemic.
Additionally, we encourage you to follow the precautionary guidelines as articulated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health here in St. Kitts and Nevis. We are putting appropriate contingencies in place to ensure that even in these unpredictable times, that you will remain safe and firmly committed to supporting our students.
The Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris announced during a Press Conference held yesterday Tuesday March 24, 2020, that all schools will be closed. It was confirmed by the Minister of Education the Honorable Shawn K. Richards that this includes CFBC. With the national announcement of confirmed cases today, Wednesday March 25, 2020 CFBC will close with immediate effect from today Wednesday March 25, 2020 and reopen on Monday April 20, 2020 if the all clear is given.
We are developing strategies to allow faculty and staff to move to a virtual environment. We know that this will demand quick change for some persons, but we remain confident in your resilience and persistence. We will continue to adapt to rapid change. Kindly ensure that you continue to fulfill your responsibilities to the highest standards. We urge our students to remain focused on their educational goals and to use this time to attend virtual classes, engage in self-directed study and conduct research for their assignments and projects.
The administration will continue to work in a virtual environment to ensure that the operations of the College are sustained. Before the reopening of the College, the ancillary staff (cleaning and maintenance) will ensure that the classrooms and offices are fully sanitized. Even as we practice social distancing, do not forget to check in with colleagues, family and friends who may be challenged at this time. This is the time that we need to see the true demonstration of humanity. We remain confident that we can surmount the challenges ahead together.
We thank God for the progress we have made thus far and for his covering over the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. I encourage you to remain optimistic and to embrace God’s promises: Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Let me thank you once again for the demonstration of encouragement, love and support within this, our CFBC family.
God bless you all.
