Economics is the study of how society provides for itself by making the most efficient use of scarce resources so that both private and social welfare may be improved. The CAPE Economics Syllabus is intended to promote knowledge and understanding of the principles and concepts of economics and to foster an appreciation of the various methods used by economists in analyzing economic problems. The knowledge and skills acquired will enable students to contribute to the economic and social development of the Caribbean.

Orian Stapleton 2016 Runner-up State Scholar!
Orian Stapleton and Kamil Wilkin both gained six (6) Grade I passes from seven (7) qualifying units. In accordance with the established criteria for determining a tiebreak, CXC computed the General Module Performance for them and it was determined that Orian has 16 – As and 11 – Bs while Kamil has 16 – As and 7 – Bs.
Hence, Orian Stapleton of the Nevis Sixth Form College is the 2016 Runner-up State Scholar and Kamil Wilkin also of the Nevis Sixth Form College is the 2016 Second Runner-up State Scholar.
Orian offered ten (10) subjects and achieved grade ones in Biology Units 1 and 2, Chemistry Units 1 and 2, Physics Unit 2 and Pure Mathematics Unit 2; three (3) Grade II passes in Caribbean Studies Communication Studies and Physics Unit 1; one (1) Grade III pass Pure Mathematics Unit 1.

It’s official! PHILMON ROBERTS of CFBC is the 2016 State Scholar!
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has provided the Scholarship Rank Order Listing for St. Kitts and Nevis. The listing is based on candidates’ performance on the 2015 and 2016 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). Candidates are ranked by the highest number of Grade 1 passes obtained in seven qualifying units and then other criteria in the event of a tie.
The rank order is as follows:
1. PHILMON ROBERTS – CFBC: 10 Grade I passes
2. ORIAN STAPLETON – Nevis Sixth Form College 6 Grade I passes
3. KAMIL WILKIN – Nevis Sixth Form College Six 6 Grade I passes
Philmon offered ten (10) subjects and obtained ten (10) Grade I passes Caribbean Studies, Chemistry Units 1 and 2, Communication Studies, Computer Science Units 1 and 2, Physics Unit 1 and 2, and Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2.
He also wins the award for the Most Outstanding Performance in Natural Sciences.
